JDSU's Agile Optical Switch family provides the broadest portfolio of ROADM solutions designed to match the requirements of major market segments. They are the building blocks of Agile Optical Networks and provide the flexibility to remotely reconfigure any or all wavelengths, thereby reducing time-to-service, simplifying the network and streamlining planning and management. This results in significant Opex and Capex reductions and faster time to revenue. In addition, they enable the cost effective creation and deployment of more complex network architectures.
The JDSU dynamic gain equalizer (DGE) eliminates expensive regeneration equipment and reduces overall optical system costs for deployments of 10 Gb/s ultra-long haul and 40 Gb/s long haul optical networks.
The DGE simultaneously provides a smooth optical attenuation profile of wavelengths (low resolution) and compensates for local spectral features (highresolution). This enables the cascade of up to 50 optical amplifiers and translates into a system reach extension of up to 5000 km.
The DGE, as well as the Wavelength Blocker series of modules, provides state of the art performance for dynamic optical networks. These advanced modules use free-space optics, replacing conventional components thereby reducing costs and complexity.
