Update SDA-4040D, SDA-5000, SDA-5500, SDA-5510, SSA-1000 or SAM4040D

Stealth Digital Analyzer and Sweep System

To successfully update your SDA-4040D, SDA-5000, SDA-5500, SDA-5510, SSA-1000 or SAM4040D to firmware version 3.2, it is critical that you review the warnings below prior to the performing the upgrade:

WARNINGS:

• Performing this upgrade will erase all stored channel plans, location files and measurement files from the unit. Before upgrading, please remember to save all data by printing the file or downloading to StealthWare (StealthWare will enable you to save files and upload back to the unit after the upgrade is complete).
• Before upgrading an SDA-5510 or SDA-5500 to version 3.2, please review your reverse channel plan!!! Reverse channel plans cannot be directly saved in StealthWare, but the channel plan frequencies can easily be extracted from StealthWare reverse sweep files. Here’s how…

1. In the StealthWare Data Center, select the most recently saved reverse sweep file from your system.
2. Select “Print Report” and “Numeric Table”. The printed reverse sweep report will list the reverse channel plan frequencies in the left-hand column. These frequencies are the reverse channel plan frequencies from your SDA-5500 or SDA-5510.
3. After you have upgraded your SDA-5500 or SDA-5510, use the frequency report from step 2 to re-build your reverse channel plan.
4. Always double-check your reverse plan to ensure that sweep insertion points are not programmed on top of active services!

• This upgrade does not apply to 3SR, SAM 4040, 3ST, and 3HRV.

UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS

1. To begin the upgrade, you must first select, download and save the appropriate upgrade file to your hard drive. If you do not have QAM option 4 already installed in your SDA meter, then please select one of the following files:
   
   SDAv3_2_English.exe (English Version)
   SDAv3_2_Francais.exe (French Version)
   SDAv3_2_Deutsch.exe (German Version)
   
   (To determine if you have the QAM option installed on your SDA meter, press the FUNCTION / INFORMATION keys on the SDA unit and review the installed options)
2. If you have the QAM option installed in your SDA meter, then please select, download and save the appropriate upgrade file to your hard drive:
   
   SDAv3_2_Qamv1_8_English.exe (English Version)
   SDAv3_2_Qamv1_8_Francais.exe (French Version)
   SDAv3_2_Qamv1_8_Deutsch.exe (German Version)
3. Connect a PC-to-Stealth cable to the meter and to COM1 of your PC. (The PC- to-Stealth Cable can be purchased from the factory.)
4. Ensure that the SDA unit is plugged into the AC Charger.
5. Make sure that the unit is off. Hold down the second function key (green key) and press the power button. The unit will beep and enter into the boot/program mode. The screen will display the serial number, application version and boot version (in the lower right hand corner).
6. Double click on the upgrade program. When prompted by the upgrade program, press any key on the PC to begin the firmware transfer.
7. The program will erase the old code and install the new code. The entire process should take less than 10 minutes. The unit will then be updated to SDA version 3.2.
