Remote Sensing
Using short pulses from a laser and detecting the reflected light from an optical pulse of an object, a very accurate distance measurement can be established by measuring the time between the laser pulse and the reflected light. By adding scanning capabilities to a system, a complete 3D scene acquisition and reconstruction is possible. 3D data acquisition can be used in risk and damage assessment, as well as security planning. Range finding is also used for border control and airborne surveillance. CW DPSS lasers in the IR are used for example for fiber-optic sensing. We offer fiber coupled versions of our lasers to enable easy coupling to the fiber sensors.
