Precision Marking
Manufacturers continue to push for direct part marking to solve their quality tracking and identification processes. As parts continue to miniaturize, the need for more precise and less intrusive marking processes becomes critical. The JDSU Fiber Laser makes the least intrusive, most precise marks possible, when compared to other non-CW or longer wavelength marking solutions. Its 1100 nanometer continuous wave fiber laser allows marking depths less than 10 microns with linewidths approaching 15 microns.
At the heart of the fiber laser are high reliability telecommunications-style diodes pumping an environmentally sealed rare-earth doped fiber spool to provide up to 25 Watts of CW energy. There is no maintenance beyond cleaning its fan filters, as it is an air-cooled laser that plugs directly into standard 110- or 220-Volt single-phase wall outlets, requiring less than 3 Amps at 220 volts. Lifetime is characteristically greater than 20,000 hours of continuous operation.
For precise text, graphics, or 2D barcodes permanently marked on components, the JDSU Fiber Laser can be the right solution.
