Join JDSU's co-op program to gain valuable work experience in your field of expertise, refining your skills and learning new ones.

Our Co-op Program is typically available in the following timeframe:

JDSU currently has the following positions available.

Software Co-Op
Location: Germantown, MD or Salem, VA

Capture a great opportunity to enhance your software development skills as a Co-op at JDSU.  Help design, implement, test and debug software that controls automated test standards used in analyzing telecom equipment. Software configures the unit under test as well as other equipment, gathers results, and creates a test report. You may participate in the design and architecture reviews that define customer needs and future product enhancement. 

Qualifications:

  • Completion of at least two years of undergraduate education toward a BS in CPE, EE, or CS
  • Demonstrated experience developing, documenting and implementing C/C++ software (required)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical engineering design concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and abilities

Hardware Co-op
Location: Germantown, MD

Interested in hardware engineering? Gain real world experience while working as a Co-op at JDSU!  You will work on a product development team to bring a product to market.  You will assist with the various stages of the design process such as circuit design and testing, troubleshooting, writing HDL code and testbenches. You will work closely with other engineers, technicians and co-ops to produce a robust and reliable product.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of at least one year of undergraduate education toward a BS in CPE, EE, or CS
  • Basic knowledge of fundamental electrical engineering concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Familiarity with FPGA or CPLD programmable logic (e.g. Altera or Xilinx) using HDL coding (Verilog or VHDL) preferred
  • Familiarity with the use of common lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, meters)
  • Familiarity with schematic, PCB layout, and simulation tools (e.g. spice) preferred
  • Knowledge of data communications and telecommunications protocols and concepts preferred

Design Verification Co-Op
Location: Raleigh, NC

JDSU has an outstanding opportunity for a Design Verification Engineering student interested in data communication networks. Help design, debug and test IP networks and IP test tools. These products interact with a wide variety of JDSU equipment and systems; as well as those of our vendors. You may participate in design and architecture reviews that define customer needs and how those will be implemented in future product improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of at least one year of undergraduate education towards a BS CS, EE, or ECE
  • Demonstrated experience developing, documenting and implementing C/C++ or Java software required
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and abilities
  • Knowledge of IP network equipment including switches and routers as well as data networking technologies such as VLANS, subnets, and MPLS routing
